Pricing

How should AI platform pricing work?

Good pricing has to do three things at once: stay understandable to customers, cover real operating costs, and leave enough margin for the business to make a profit when users generate voice, visuals, and video.

The core principle

Charge for the platform, then account for heavy production fairly.

A platform should not pretend that managed generation is free. It should either package usage into a clear allowance or separate a platform fee from pay-as-you-go production, depending on the workflow and the cost profile.

  • Simple subscriptions work when usage is predictable.
  • Allowance-based plans help bound exposure.
  • PAYG can suit customers who only occasionally need heavy generation.

Why unlimited can be risky

Unlimited is attractive until the expensive jobs start stacking up.

Voiceover, image generation, rendering, and third-party model calls all create variable cost. If a plan is unlimited without guardrails, the platform can end up subsidising users who generate much more than expected.

A healthy alternative

A small platform fee plus controlled production usage is often easier to sustain.

This model can keep the core memory and workflow layer affordable while asking users to pay more only when they ask the system to do more work. It is easier to protect margins and easier to explain to customers.

  • The platform still feels accessible.
  • Heavy users pay in proportion to the cost they create.
  • The business can stay profitable without hiding the economics.

What customers need to understand

People care less about the math than the predictability.

The best pricing pages explain what is included, what is constrained, and when a user will be asked to upgrade. Customers do not need the provider bill; they need to know that the platform will stay viable and that the rules are clear.
